Question 1a. What are the roles of a Councillor?

Responses:
John MacAlpine: Response not yet received.
Willie Morley: The role of a Councillor has two parts. One is to work with other elected officials to conduct municipal affairs; looking after budgets, planning, development, roads, parks, policies, by-laws etc. The second is to be a conduit between constituents and Council to ensure that their needs and concerns are being addressed and met.
Nick Quail: Response not yet received.

Question 1b. How do you see yourself managing/meeting electors’ expectations versus the demands in the legally mandated policy-making and stewardship requirements of the positions?

Responses:
John MacAlpine: Response not yet received.
Willie Morley: Municipal affairs are largely affected by policies set out by the Province, as we are seeing with the current situation in Toronto. We will have to work within these confines to best meet the needs of our community.

John Wheat: [combined response for 1 a &b] Managing the role of Councillor is managing the business of the County plus addressing concerns of residents as they may arise

Question 1c. What are the benefits to residents of having 2 Councillors represent them?

Responses:
John MacAlpine: Response not yet received.
Willie Morley: Each Councillor will bring different skills, knowledge, and ideas to the table. This collaboration of ideas will benefit all.
Nick Quail: Response not yet received.
John Wheat: Having 2 Councillors is a benefit as certain residents may be more comfortable speaking one they are more comfortable talking with

Question 1d. How will you work with the second Ward 1 Councillor to ensure you coordinate your efforts and keep your constituents informed of relevant discussions and decisions?

Responses:
John MacAlpine: Response not yet received.
Willie Morley: There are many cost effective ways to convey information that can be worked on by both Councillors in a joint effort. Regular meetings, town halls, and updates on social media can be set up to inform constituents.
Nick Quail: Response not yet received.
John Wheat: Personally do not see a problem working with any one on Council. In the past have worked with both WIILL BOUMA and STEVE SCHMIDT locally quite well, along with the Mayor and all fellow Councillors in the past. Fellow members of Council have voted me to lead various committees such as Community Services, John Noble Home and currently Chair the Planning Committee, plus represent County matters with Six Nations.
