Earlier in 2018 it became very clear to a group of Ward 2 residents who were sharing and discussing information and issues with development in north Paris that a number of concerns need to be addressed regarding our Council for the County of Brant. One shared universally in our group is the need for better communication with the residents. With this being a Municipal Election Year, we realized we have a window of opportunity to advocate for change at County Council.
Election Day is October 22, 2018. Early voting starts October 1, 2018
We are a smaller group of 3 of these concerned Ward 2 residents who have joined together and specifically set out to raise awareness of the issues facing not only our neighbourhood, but all of Ward 2, Paris and the County of Brant. We want to help provide information about the issues and the voting process to the wider community with the aim of having as many people as possible become informed voters.
Our instincts tell us that with better information more people will go out and vote
We met with each of the active candidates for Councillor for Ward 2 to chat and conduct an informal interview with each one. We asked each candidate the same set of questions and documented these interviews. Next we set about sharing the files we created from the interview documents as widely as we could. We received very positive feedback, but we have realized that sharing documents by email and even Facebook is not very efficient. A wonderful suggestion was made by a very wise person to create this WordPress site. We have included the interviews with the candidates for Ward 2 and have added a bit of information about meeting dates, voting dates, the candidates for Mayor, Councillors for Wards 1, 3, 4 and 5 and for School Trustees. As time permits we will continue to add to the information here. Our goal remains the same:
We would like to see an amazing voter turnout for this Municipal Election
